Siena

The most beautiful medieval city of Tuscany

Siena, located in the center of Tuscany and surrounded by rolling hills, is one of the most beautiful medieval cities in Italy

The center of the city is the famous Piazza del Campo, a square with a particular shell shape where, every year in July and August, the famous Palio is held. Also in Piazza del Campo is the Palazzo Pubblico with its own tower, called Torre del Mangia. Not far from Piazza del Campo, the Siena Cathedral is particular for its black and white facade

A few kilometers north of Siena is the charming medieval center of Monteriggioni, an ancient fortified village that has remained almost intact in its structure. About 30 km south of Siena in a beautiful position stands the Abbey of San Galgano. There are two points of interest: the large roofless Abbey and the Hermitage of Monte Siepi, where, according to legend, San Galgano retired and where he stuck a sword in the stone, as a symbol of peace.
